Upcoming Race 8/8, Rye Airfield Night!!

In the past two weeks we have put in over $2,000 worth of lumber and 100+ labor hours in the race course! Thanks to the help of Healthy Casco Bay for supporting MY Bike Series with a $1,000 grant for the supplies, the Town of Falmouth for covering the additional cost, and Hancock lumber for giving us a discount! We've posted some pictures and great video of the work done on the trails onto our facebook page- check it out!
In addition to a ton of trail work the upcoming race on 8/8 is sponsored by Rye Airfield! Rye Airfield will be giving out passes to all participants + providing some great prizes!
And if this wasn't enough good news the weather forecast looks perfect! We are looking forward to an amazing fun filled night! Tell your friends what you've been up to this summer and bring them along! See you Wednesday

Series Points and Guide Lines

2012 Point Series Rules and Guide Lines
The point series is open to any male or female racing in the Junior Expert, Junior A or B categories.
The point system is a sliding scale between first place and all other finishers place. First place finishers will be awarded 60 points, 20th and above will receive 5 points. If you finish outside of the top 20 or do not finish a race you will receive only five points. After each race your points will be tallied up and a new series ranking will be posted. The last race of the series will be awarded double points. Your top four results will be counted towards the series winner, this means if you compete in all six events your top four results will be counted and your worst two results will be dropped. If an athlete only competes in four races and accumulates points in each race all four of those events will be counted. If an athlete only competes in one race, they will still be counted towards the point’s series.
Series results will be posted and updated on mybikeseries.com and on our Facebook page.
Awards and prizes will be presented following the last race of the series.
If an athlete decides to upgrade from Junior B to Junior A or A to Expert then one half of their accumulated points will be transferred over to the higher category. If an athlete decides to down grade from Junior A to B all of their points will be carried over. We will only keep track of one category change.

There will be no points for the mini categories.

Rain Cancellation Policy

We will do our best to determine if an event needs to be canceled 24 hours in advance. Cancellation will be published here at mybikeseries.com and on our facebook page. If it is forecasted to rain throughout the day of an event then we will cancel. If we receive 6 to 8 inches of rain like we did the beginning of June 2012 then yes we will cancel. However, if it just a chance of a shower or sprinkle then we race! Safety is our top priority and we recognize that many participants make long trips to our events so we want to make sure we give you ample time to plan accordingly.

If an event is canceled then we will not have a makeup, except for the finals. If the final event is rained out we will have a rescheduled final event the following Wednesday.

F.A.Q.

Q. Will the race still go on if it rains?
A. If the forecast is calling for extended periods of rain we will cancel. Our policy is to cancel an event 24hrs in advance. If it is a chance of showers or sprinkles we will continue on so please check the webpage and facebook. If you do not see a cancel notice by 6pm the day before the event then it is on! Please note due to the safety of all participants and staff we will cancel if lightening is present.

Q. How does registration work?
A. You can print off the registration form from the web page and start by filling that out. Please print neatly as it is helpful for the timers to be able to accurately enter names. Make sure someone 18 or older who is a legal guardian signs the waiver. If you can't print out the registration form no worries, we will have plenty! Once the form is filled out have your $10 ready and go to the registration table.
Registration is located at the end of the parking lot near the last soccer field. You can't miss us. Hand in your form and the nice volunteers will assign you a number plate. Once you have a number plate you're ready to race!

Q. What gear does my child need to participate?
A. All someone needs to race is a mountain bike and helmet! Many kids race in jean shorts and t'shirts with regular sneakers. Some racers do have specific bike shorts and jerseys but don't be afraid if you don't have this gear, it is not mandatory by any means and the majority of the racers don't have this.

Q. What is the Pre Ride with a Pro?
A. The pre ride with a Pro started out as a way for the young racers to have the opportunity to ride with professional mountain bikers such as Andrew Freye, John Burns or Brett Morgan to name a few. During this time the racers have the opportunity to ride and get professional instructions from the pros. Due to timing and other logistics the Pre Ride with a Pro will now be a series of skill technique drills set up in the field (directly behind registration). Now the racers will be able to practice and learn important technique drills lead by local pro's. This will allow the pro's to focus in on areas of improvement more and will also help with keeping to the race schedule.

Q. How long is the course?
A. Mini course is 1.25 miles, Mini A will do 3 laps, Mini B will do 2 laps. The course will vary slightly throughout the summer but you can expect a mini race to last 20-30 minutes. We will try and have the majority of the racers finish just under 30 minutes.

The Junior course is longer and more challenging than the Mini Course. The course will vary throughout the summer but plan on an approximate 2 mile course. Junior B will do 2 laps and Junior A will do 3 laps.
